Battlefield 6's Relaxed Playlist Sparks Heated Discussions Regarding Bots, XP Rewards, and Queue Times

Recently, Battlefield Studios launched a fresh game mode titled Relaxed Breakthrough. To put it simply, this option mirrors the regular Breakthrough setup but includes a few notable adjustments:

  • Every squad includes only eight real players, with the remaining made up of 32 bots.
  • Activities performed by human gamers grant full XP, while bot actions provide reduced XP.
  • Just a pair of locations can be played: Cairo Siege and Empire State map.
  • Features like Player tags, accolades, and career stat updates have been turned off.

In short, the playlist delivers on its title: it offers a casual version of Breakthrough. On the surface, one could assume it's a good idea, as it provides more options for players looking for alternative ways to enjoy the title. However, gaming history has shown one thing, it's that you can't please everyone. In other words, a lot of BF6 fans are mad.

Community Reactions: From Fury to Praise

"People want human opponents. Don't repeat the mistakes of your competitors," reads a response to the mode reveal. "Absolutely shocking idea," says another. Meanwhile, on the Battlefield subreddit, one user remarks, "I have no idea where we are going with this game," while someone else lists everything they believe to be problematic in Battlefield 6: "Fix bugs, fix drone glitch, correct rocket mechanics, fix [the] bloom after sprinting bug, fix awful hit registration. We do not require this AI-heavy playlist."

However, for every complaint, some gamers explaining how much they're liking the new mode. "It's enjoyable to practice, real players keep it from being a complete grind but it's very relaxed," says one Reddit comment. "The community fails to see that there are gamers who have lives and don't play this title 24/7. Allow them to find a middle ground," adds another. A response on Twitter explains that as they're "a parent gamer with limited time, this is great for me," while another praises the mode for "not being overcompetitive."

Valid Concerns and Community Input

Despite the support, there are constructive reasons to complain about Casual Breakthrough. Some users have pointed out that it will make queue times more extended for other modes because of the large amount of playlists currently available. On a similar note, certain regions already encounter mostly bots in the current modes. It also seems somewhat counterintuitive that the mode does not begin without a required amount of real players, despite it focuses mostly on combat against bots.

Lastly, one of the biggest grievances is that a previous feature was meant to provide complete rewards, even against bots, but that was removed when they attempted to eliminate XP farming from the mode. So this new playlist seems like the player base compromising in the middle, according to a Reddit comment. A different user describes this mode as the devs "dropping the ball significantly, I experienced great enjoyment in the first couple of days, what prompted them to adjust it?"

Future Prospects: Adjustments Occur?

Should Battlefield Studios has proven anything to date with the latest installment, it is that they're listening and responding to feedback. Tasks being too difficult got fixed very quickly, as did the required Redsec challenges. Chances are that, if their data shows this new playlist is underperforming to their standards, they won't be shy to make further modifications.
