Fans Call for Custody of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of Ariana Grande are demanding that a person who jumped a fence and grabbed the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or deported from Singapore.
A circulating footage shows the individual from Australia shoving aside camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the cast walked down a yellow carpet surrounded by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "free after being detained", though legal records indicated that he was set to attend court on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was charged.
Pattern of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram feed contains clips of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last year.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Followers Express Concern Over the Star's Past Trauma
Numerous followers blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the conclusion of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and wounding hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote a further message on Instagram.
A number of attendees also faulted security officers at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while others called for digital services to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Event Details
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande looked startled when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of supporters had assembled in a sea of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore venue, including a number who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the second of a dual adaptation of the acclaimed stage production Wicked, which revolves around the unlikely relationship between two distinct sorceresses.
The musical itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a light pink glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress featuring roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the highest-grossing film of the previous year in the UK, and scored 10 Academy Award nods, securing several for best costume and set decoration.
