Former Doctor Accused of Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities report that a former doctor has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
