Citizens have gathered across the country to remember two years since the Hamas-conducted assault on 7 October 2023, as talks advanced in Egypt over an end to the war in the Gaza Strip.

The attack led to more than 1,200 people dead and 251 others captured away to Gaza as prisoners. It was the most deadliest day for Jewish people since the Second World War.

Israel responded by launching a defensive operation in Gaza which has taken in excess of 67,000 people, according to the area's Hamas-controlled health ministry. Its numbers are considered reliable by the UN and other international bodies.

"Our bloodthirsty enemies have hit us hard, but they have not defeated us," the prime minister stated on that day.

He also promised to "realize all the aims of the war: the return of all the captured, the destruction of the Hamas regime and the assurance that Gaza will not create a danger to Israel".

Commemorative Gatherings Across Israel

The Israeli government delayed official remembrance events until October 16th - after the conclusion of the religious holiday season - but ceremonies still occurred throughout the country on Tuesday.

A memorial ceremony for the relatives of Israeli citizens who died in the Hamas assault was conducted in Tel Aviv. Put together by the victims' relatives, it was broadcast throughout Israeli broadcast stations.

Hours earlier, a silent tribute was observed across the country.

Negotiation Discussions in Egypt

Meanwhile, the conflicting parties' representatives met in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of the negotiation venue for a continuing round of indirect talks to discuss the provisions of the plan.

A prominent delegate involved in the talks revealed that an late session of mediated discussions commenced at 7 PM local time.

The representative explained the day's discussions ended without concrete outcomes, due to differences over the proposed Israeli withdrawal maps from Gaza and over assurances Hamas seeks to guarantee Israel does not resume combat after the first phase of the arrangement.

He noted that the talks are "tough and have still not produce any significant progress," but noted that mediators are working hard to narrow the differences between the both parties.

Key Issues in Talks

  • An enduring halt to fighting
  • The exchange of the prisoners still held by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners from Gaza
  • The pullout of Israeli forces from Gaza
  • Arrangements for relief supplies deliveries
  • Post-war administration of the territory

Public Feeling

In Tel Aviv's Hostages Square earlier, young a woman - whose brother survived the incident on the gathering, where hundreds were lost their lives and many more were abducted by Hamas militants - told: "No location seems like home any longer and until all the hostages come back no one will feel safe."

"When we see everyone home once more, we can feel relief once more. Then we can start to rebuild," she added.

Outside the prime minister's official dwelling in the capital, people gathered to express their support for the relatives of the captives. Israel states 48 remain in confinement in Gaza, 20 of whom are thought to be alive.

Demonstrator Atalia Regev remarked: "It's necessary do any agreement needed for the abducted to return. But we sincerely need assurances that we will be secure."

Surveys now frequently demonstrate that about 70% of the population prefer the war to finish in exchange for the liberation of the hostages.

Palestinian Circumstances

At the site of Nova festival, those paying respects came together to pay their respects.

From there, the sound of aerial bombardments and shelling could be noticed just a brief space away in Gaza, where local people reported the intense Israeli attacks carried on.

In the urban center, air and artillery strikes were documented in the dawn of that day in the west side neighborhood, Rimal and zone areas and in the east side neighbourhood of Sheikh Radwan, as well Shati refugee camp to the north-west.

"As the night falls, the dread appears with it," evacuated urban resident a mother, whose 17-year-old son was killed by an Israeli bombing previously, described.

"My family are fearful of the bombings. Throughout the evening we are sleeping together, clinging, particularly my little child who rests his head on me all night."

"Constantly we monitor the reports to see developments. And I'm worried that this halt will not be achieved and that the war will resume to us."

Health Crisis

The healthcare center in the urban area announced it had taken in the remains of six people by the afternoon, including several who died in an Israeli bombing in the southern district.

Nasser hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis said another two fatalities had been delivered. A person was died by Israeli soldiers while seeking aid to the south region, medical staff stated.

The region's health ministry reported twenty-five of the {territ
