Tottenham Boss Frank Labels Goalkeeper Critics 'Not Genuine Fans'
The Cottagers Start Strong to Beat Spurs and Increase Pressure on the Manager
Tottenham Hotspur supporters who booed keeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed afterwards "those individuals cannot be true Tottenham supporters" by manager Frank.
Tottenham conceded two goals in the opening six minutes to lose 2-1 to their opponents, registering their 10th top-flight at home loss of 2025.
However the main talking point was Fulham's next score when Vicario lost possession well beyond his box.
He ventured out to deal with a long ball and took the ball towards the sideline.
But, instead of booting it out of play, the Italian turned and tried to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was controlled by King.
King passed the ball off to Welsh midfield player Harry Wilson, who curled a strike into the net from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.
Seconds later when the ball came to Vicario once more, some Spurs fans booed him.
The team were jeered off at half-time, with the club 2-0 behind, and again at full-time.
A particular of those booing episodes truly angered the manager.
"It came to my attention some of our supporters apparently booed the incident and booed after, which, in my opinion is totally unacceptable," the Dane commented regarding the fans' reaction to his shot-stopper.
"Those individuals cannot be true Tottenham supporters that do that. Alright jeering following the game, no problem, but when we are in play, we are backing each other, we are with one another moving ahead."
Kenny Tete had handed the visitors a fourth-minute advantage prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Tottenham in an better second period performance.
Ex- top-flight goalkeeper Joe Hart remarked that the next score was "totally preventable".
"I certainly appreciate the supporters' frustration," Hart continued. "I know the role Vicario is playing. He's a excellent team player, he's a true figure in the locker room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your decisions.
"The keeper was heavily implicated in what ended up to be the winning goal."
'It is Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'
Frank Defended His Keeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Game
Italy national team the keeper is in his 3rd campaign with Tottenham.
He said following the match that he had to take the criticism.
"That score was a error of mine, I accept responsibility for it," he said.
"The intent was to kick the ball long and I just struck the ball in a poor manner. It was an even bigger mountain to climb."
He said being booed "comes with football".
"I am mature, what can I say?" he continued. "The team can't be affected by the circumstances in the stands. Supporters have the right to do as they see fit.
"It's on us to stay increasingly composed, to focus on ourselves. We are missing in composure and calmness to overturn results. Today is a bad defeat and it's tough to accept."
'It Shocked Me No One Returned to the Goal Line'
In spite of the keeper's error, it was far from an simple score for Harry Wilson to score.
In fact it was the next most distant Premier League score of the season – after Tyler Adams' 43.3 metre goal for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly too came on Saturday.
The goalscorer stated he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an open net to target.
10 seconds passed between Vicario coming out of his box and the midfielder striking – which was 5 seconds following the clearance.
"I felt like the goalkeeper was out of the area for a long time," he said.
"It amazed me not one of the back four went back to the goal line. When not one of them defended the net, my eyes lit up somewhat.
"[Destiny] Udogie fell too, which gave me a bit of additional opportunity. After that it was solely about attempting to achieve the correct connection and place it on target. I had a good feeling, as soon as it left my foot, that it was heading in."
'During in a Poor Run, Everything Appears to Go Against You'
Jeering While We Are Still in Play Is Totally Unjustifiable - the Manager
Although the keeper's mistake dominated headlines, this was an overall poor day for Spurs to extend their home woes.
This was their 10th at home defeat of the year in the league, a shared club record matching nineteen ninety-four and 2003.
The side still have home games against Frank's old side Brentford and champions the Reds to come before the end of the season.
Just a single of those victories have come since the manager replaced his predecessor in the summer.
"If you are behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a mountain to climb," stated the boss.
"During in a poor run, all aspects appears to work against you as well – the first was a redirected attempt, the second is a error from Vic.
"The outcome leaves us in a place where we have lost another game. Each fixture has a single narrative, today we lost in the first six minutes.
"We simply need to continue striving. The second half was much better and hopefully an aspect we can utilize to learn."
Tottenham have lost 4 consecutive at home London derbies for the first time in the top division.
And they are recording nine point five attempts and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the Premier League – their poorest rates on file in a one season (since at least 2003-04).
Former Cottagers midfielder Danny Murphy stated that the manager has to ride the storm.
"He's got accept the stick," the pundit said. "He's accepted a high profile role at a huge team with enormous anticipation. There is pressure and responsibility that comes with that.
"Their showings at home have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
