Vinted Members Share Displeasure About Sizing Changes

Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.

Online Platforms Response

Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping.

The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.

It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size when needed, which has left users frustrated.

Measurement Approach Changes

Before the change, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Member Accounts

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she stated.

Platform Context

The platform boasts over 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.

It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
